Voices from the stage

See treasures from Box Hill Historical Society alongside performance works of art from Whitehorse Art Collection. Featuring 1950s playbills, the belongings of local performer Iris Roderick, a portrait of Uncle Jack Charles and prints from opera. This exhibition stages the diversity of entertainment across Whitehorse.

Iris Roderick was a dancer, singer, producer, director, teacher and notably a war hero. She was instrumental in the performance scene of Box Hill through the mid-20th century. 

Aboriginal elder, actor and activist Uncle Jack Charles was a trailblazer for Australian theatre. See his portrait staged alongside prints from the Australian Opera 40th Anniversary Folio.
