Every Wednesday and Sunday mornings a group of mostly retired men gather with their model boats at the Surrey Park Model Boat Club in Box Hill. They sail or power their craft on a small lake - formerly a disused quarry.
Model Citizens is a photo series by George Mifsud captured over 12 months between 2022 – 2023 at the Surrey Park Model Boat Club. The series reveals the craftsmanship and pride of boatbuilding, the good humour of the club members, the serenity of the days sailing and the camaraderie of the men that speaks to the importance of connection and positive aging.
