The modern dream of a brick veneer house sitting on a quarter acre block (with a Hills Hoist in the backyard) has long been embedded the utopic vision of the Australian Home. This exhibition features artworks from the Whitehorse Art Collection and Box Hill Historical Society that represent houses and abodes in the Whitehorse municipality. Some works evoke a nostalgic vision of the past while others feature contemporary high-rise apartments that dominate the Box Hill skyline. The exhibition reflects different local residential architecture - and the changing aspirations of the people who dwell within.
