Discover the tiny wonders of nature! Kids explore the garden, learn about insect life cycles, and create art inspired by Annemieke Mein’s work.
Step into the miniature world of insects through the eyes of one of Australia’s most beloved artists, Annemieke Mein. In this fun and creative workshop for kids, young artists will explore the gardens of Strathdon House, observing the fascinating lives of insects, moths, and butterflies up close.
Inspired by Mein’s beautifully detailed textile art—currently on display in the Nature Revealed exhibition Artspace —participants will learn about insect life cycles and discover the hidden beauty of the natural world. Through guided drawing activities, they’ll create their own artworks capturing the delicate forms and patterns of the tiny creatures they find.
This workshop blends outdoor exploration with artistic expression, encouraging children to look closely, think creatively, and celebrate the wonders of nature—just like Annemieke Mein.
All materials supplied.
This workshop will take place at Strathdon House and Orchard Precinct.
The Annemieke Mein: Nature Revealed exhibition is on at the Artspace Box Hill Town Hall.
