This latest exhibition by local artist Echo Wu employs traditional Chinese ink brush painting to evoke the vast grandeur of the Australian landscape. From the Flinders Ranges in South Australia to the Grampians in west Victoria, the artist captures a variety of natural environments along with native flora and fauna. Wu’s classic images of birds and flowers are also featured.
These expressive works reveal an innovative fusion of cultural traditions, where the ancient Chinese art of ink brush painting explores the unique experience of the Australian wilderness, and its long traditions of representation in Australian art.
Exhibition Opening, Saturday 15 March, 2-4pm.
