Grab your cape and dive into the action at Whitehorse's Spring Festival on Sunday 17 November.

Get ready for a jam-packed day of fun! In 2024 Spring Festival has a Superheroes theme. Join us and meet your favourite superheroes and our local legends! Enjoy free craft activities, exciting rides, and fabulous face painting for kids of all ages.

At Spring Festival, we've pulled out all the stops to ensure there's something for everyone. From the young to the young at heart, here's a taste of what's in store!

  • Community stalls: Explore over 80 stalls offering a treasure trove of information, showcasing the vibrant spirit of our community.
  • Community performances: Be dazzled by the incredible talent within our community, with a variety of performances to keep you entertained throughout the day.
  • Tours of The Round: We're offering an exclusive opportunity to explore the contemporary beauty of The Round. These guided tours will unveil the theatre's captivating design and modern features.
  • Face-painting: Transform into your favourite characters, creatures, or let your imagination run wild with our free face painting.
  • Arts and crafts activities: Unleash your creativity with the Creative Whitehorse team, the Civic Centre Foyer is our Creative Hub where you can create your own superhero zine (mini-magazine).
  • Reptile Encounters: Power up your reptile knowledge! Get up close and personal with fascinating reptiles, perfect for the curious explorer.
  • Meet a superhero: Some of the Avengers will be patrolling the Spring Festival precinct, make sure to grab a picture!
  • Morphology: Unleash the powers of imagination with Morphology inside The Round! This interactive light sculpture is designed to be touched. Each glow wire can be twisted, bent and shaped into unique shapes.
  • Dreaming Space Circus: Dash over for interactive live performances, hands-on activities, giant bubbles and more! Find them under the yellow circus tent!
  • Amusement rides: Discover a world of entertainment with our fantastic selection of free rides at Spring Festival, perfect for families and friends of all ages.
  • Fly Factory Trapeze: Get ready for jaw-dropping performances as superheroes fly through the air on a full-sized trapeze!

Make sure to visit the Youth Services zone! Whether you're looking for youth information or a bit of fun. They've got a range of activities available for all ages. You can find them by the Sonic Sound Stage. 

  • Live Youth Beats: From 11am to 2pm, enjoy fresh beats and inspiring performances by up-and-coming youth artists.
  • Bike and Blend: Pedal your way to a smoothie in a flash. Hop on, start cycling, and power up your smoothie game!
  • Photobooth: Capture this Super-Day with a trip to the photobooth.
  • Super-Colouring: Dive into our super-colouring station and bring heroes to life with your colours! 
  • Superhero Badge Making: Design your own hero badge and wear it proudly! Show off your super style with a hand-made badge.

Are you an eco-warrior at heart, or simply curious about our environment? Head over to the Eco-Hub to dive into hands-on activities and discover something new. With interactive stalls for all ages, there’s something for everyone to explore! Find the Eco-Hub on the lawn area in front of The Round.

  • Butterfly House: Step into a world of fluttering beauty and marvel at the grace of these delicate creatures.
  • Solar Savers: Stop by Solar Savers to learn how easy going solar can be! This local government program helps residents and businesses electrify with confidence. Find out how you can make the switch to solar. 
  • Re-Think Recycling: Curious about how plastic is recycled? Stop by and see these mini recycling machines in action! Watch as they kickstart the recycling process, transforming plastic waste into something new.
  • EV Cars: Learn more about electric vehicles. We'll have up to 6 cars onsite for you to explore. 
  • Calico Bag Colouring: Get creative and design your very own reusable bag! Perfect for showing off your unique style while helping the planet!
  • Super Plants and Mighty Animals: Step into the Urban Forest and meet our eco-heroes! Explore key plants and animals that are helping to save our environment.

This year we are shining a spotlight our very own Whitehorse superheroes – explore over 80 amazing stalls and groove to live music with over 40 local artists and community groups performing on multiple stages.

Grab your cape and dress as your favourite superhero for  a chance to win! Some of the Avengers will be patrolling the Spring Festival site and letting us know about the best costumes they see.

Getting there

Join us at this years Spring Festival on the grounds of the Whitehorse Civic Centre Precinct and, The Round.

399 Whitehorse Rd, Nunawading VIC 3131

The Whitehorse Civic Centre Precinct and The Round is well-connected by public transport, offering convenient options for patrons travelling to a show.

  • Bus: McCulloch St/Whitehorse Rd on the 901 route is the closest bus station, only a short walk from the bus stop to venue. The nearby Nunawading Station can also be accessed by the 273, 902 and 735 route.  
  • Train: The closest train station is Nunawading Station, on the Belgrave and Lilydale line. Which is approximately 1km or a 10-minute walk from the event site. From there, you can alternatively take a taxi, ride-sharing service, or catch a connecting bus.
    The Round advises to check for changes to schedules, routes or disruptions of services before taking public transport.  

There is limited parking available at the Whitehorse Civic Centre and Walker Park. We recommend walking, riding your bike, carpooling, or public transport where possible.

Accessibility

Accessibility and Event Inclusions:

There are a number of event inclusions and accessibility features to help support the community.

  • Chill out space: A quiet and calm space away from the festivities, providing patrons an opportunity to break away. 
  • Auslan: There are interpreters available at select performances. 
  • Changing Places Facility: To support individuals with disabilities and their carers, a fully equipped larger changing facility can be found on the ground floor of The Round.
  • Accessible Toilets: Available in both The Round and Civic Centre.
  • All-gender Toilets: Available at The Round.
  • Parents Room: Available in both The Round and Civic Centre.
  • Accessible Parking: Located in the eastern carpark of The Round, enter via Whitehorse Road.
  • Service Animals: Service animals are welcome at all Whitehorse events. Water facilities will be available.
