Ceramic Course Guidelines
If you have enrolled into an Adults Ceramics course, please read our Ceramics Course Guidelines ( PDF 481.18KB) before you start your course. The guidelines contain important class preparation information, including safe work procedures required in our studio.
Parents please note:
Please discuss the following information as listed below with your child;
Please ensure children wear smocks or old clothes for clay and painting classes, wear closed toed shoes, bring a towel for wheel classes and have long hair tied back.
Behavioural expectations:
Students are expected to:
- Listen to the tutor and take direction from them
- Be courteous to others at all times
- Interact respectfully and safely in the studio space.
- Clean their workspace towards the end of the class, as guided by the tutor.
We have a four-tier procedure for addressing behaviour that our tutors or staff deem inappropriate.
- Where required, the tutor or staff will verbally warn a child that their behaviour is inappropriate and explain the reason why. This serves as their first warning.
- Time out, where the child will be sent to the office area to be supervised by Centre staff.
- If deemed suitable, the child may return to class after approximately 10 minutes in the office. If the child is not ready to return to the class, the child will remain in the office for a further 10 minutes.
- If the child's inappropriate behaviour persists upon returning to class, they will be returned to the office area, and the staff will contact their parent or caregiver for immediate collection of the child.
- If there are no office staff on site, the tutor will call parents or guardians to collect the child
Term Classes - If a child is sent to the office on more that two occasions during the term, we reserve the right to discontinue their enrolment.
