Bring your imagination to life in this fun and dynamic class focused on cartoon creation. Students will learn a range of techniques for drawing their own characters while exploring inspiration from video games, cartoons, movies, anime, and comics.
Throughout the term, students will develop skills in character design, including creating original characters, reimagining existing ones, understanding basic anatomy, and applying colour theory. Student will also experiment with a variety of creative processes such as drawing, painting, craft-based sculpture, and printmaking.
In addition to character development, students will explore backgrounds, environments, and comic page layouts to help tell their own visual stories. Projects are designed as individual, stand-alone works, with the option to expand ideas into larger multi-week projects. This class encourages creativity, experimentation, and storytelling in a supportive and engaging environment. Materials and equipment included.
